Aeropuerto de Narita Da la bienvenida a Olimpiadas de 2020 Sustituyendo Aceras Mecánicas por Pista de Interior

Narita Airport Welcomes 2020 Olympics by Replacing Moving Walkways with Indoor Track

For many of us, the year 2020 is probably considered the distant future, but the Narita International Airport has already welcomed it. The 2020 Olympics is set to be held in Tokyo, and Terminal 3 in the airport has been made over to celebrate. Its space is a nod to the Games and now resembles an indoor running track.

Japanese creative agency PARTY worked on the redesign for Terminal 3, and they replaced moving walkways and lighted signs with an eye-catching color-coded track. It’s a clever idea to help travelers with wayfinding through the airport. Blue lanes guide people towards the departing areas while the red lanes lead to arrivals. In addition, there are printed symbols and arrows that direct travelers to the baggage claim, transportation, and other locations.

Muji, a popular Japanese retailer, provided the furniture design for the terminal. Like the track, couches and chairs are minimalist as they fit with the overall color scheme.
