Danish architect Bjarke Ingels plans show 2 World Trade Center will be 80 stories and appear as seven separate boxes stacked together. The design of the last tower to be built on the 16-acre Ground Zero plot in New York has been unveiled by its developers.

2 World Trade Center (WTC) will be 1,340ft tall with 80 storeys and is due to open for business in September 2021 – 20 years after the tragic events of 9/11.

Its architect, Bjarke Ingels, explained that he wanted to design a building which will both respect the fallen of 9/11 and help rejuvenate the downtown area of New York

He told Wired: ‘On one hand it’s about being respectful and about completing the frame around the memorial, and on the other hand it’s about revitalizing downtown Manhattan and making it a lively place to live and work.’
